Baseball and Softball vs West Johnston has been cancelled for today.  Baseball will be made up on this Saturday with JV starting at 1:00 and Varsity at 3:00.  Softball make up dates have not be decided at this time.

Would you like to be recognized at the Awards Ceremony in May? You will be, if you receive a scholarship, academic or athletic, to further your education…However, we can’t include your scholarship dollars unless we know about them!  Seniors, as you receive academic and athletic scholarships, please bring a copy of the notification letter to Counselor Ms. Leibowitz in Student Services so the money offered to you can be announced at the May Awards Ceremony and included in the total dollars offered to the Class of 2014.

Baseball and Softball vs. West Johnston scheduled for Tuesday, March 18th has been rescheduled for Thursday, March 20 starting times 4 and 7.
Soccer at Clayton scheduled for Monday, March 17th has been rescheduled for Thursday, March 20 starting times 4:30 and 6:30.
Soccer vs South Johnston scheduled for Tuesday, March 18 has not been rescheduled at this time.
Lacrosse at Millbrook scheduled for Tuesday, March 18th has been rescheduled for Thursday, March 20th starting time 6:00.

Attention students who registered for March 8th SAT:
The SAT make up date is this Saturday, March 22nd.
Please remember to report to the 2-story building between 7:15 and 7:45.  You must have a valid photo ID and admission ticket with a passport like photo.  Without these, you will not be allowed to test.  Go to if you have questions.



Open House for our rising magnet families was canceled due to this week’s inclement weather. It has been rescheduled for Monday, March 24. Join us at the new 9th Grade Center from 6:00-7:30PM.

The GMHS Drama Department presents "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" beginning Thursday, March 20 through Saturday, March 22. Tickets are $10 and the show begins at 7 pm each evening.

If your BIGG is crazy enough to be selected, Inspire MEdia will create a professional video of your project as it comes to life. Registration for the 2014-2015 school year starts on Monday, March 3rd.  All students grades 9-11 will register with counselor assistance during 2nd block throughout the month of March.  In preparation for registration, please click the link near the top of the Announcements for important registration information.  For specific questions regarding registration, please contact your student's counselor.



If your plans are to enter the IB Diploma Programme next year, you will be registering through the IB Office. Those students who have turned in an intent form and/or have met the prerequisites will be notified about the upcoming registration meeting.

Garner Magnet High School Career Expo Registration Form - March 21, 2014


Each North Carolina public high school will receive one (1) scholarship valued at $10,000 (payable@ $1,250 per semester) for a student to attend one of the 16 constituent campuses of the University of North Carolina.  Although the SECU Scholarship Program wishes to recognize academic achievement, the “People Helping People” scholarship has a much broader purpose:  recognizing leadership and community involvement Preference will be to students whose parents or guardians are public sector employees who live and work in North Carolina.  Some of the criteria for awarding this scholarship are:

  • Best exemplifies the membership philosophy of credit unions, “People Helping People” and has demonstrated leadership, excellence of character, integrity, and community involvement. 

    Also demonstrates scholastic achievement with a maintained 2.5 or higher grade point average on a 4.0 scale and may be deserving of financial aid.

Download the application materials and E-mail  the completed application to Counselor Ms. Leibowitz and turn in the consent form and your college acceptance letter no later than 8:00 am on April 9, 2014. Information is available using the link at the top of the page. The Garner Magnet High School Scholarship Committee will review the applications and select the GMHS scholarship winner.  Read all of the instructions carefully!  Interviews may be required.



The Garner Trojan Club will host the Fourth Annual Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Banquet on
Thursday, May 1, 2014 at the Grand Marquise Ballroom.  There will be a Social beginning at 6pm, followed by Dinner at 6:30 and the Induction Ceremony beginning at 7:00.  Tickets can be purchased at the Garner Chamber of Commerce and the Main Office of Garner Magnet High School at a cost of $50.




The Playing With Purpose Scholarship Program is a unique program that recognizes and rewards the nations outstanding Christian Student Athletes! See the Student Services Page and click the Scholarship tab for more details. 




The Trojan Club Athletic Scholarship application is now available, earlier than in previous school years, so apply now!! See the link at the top of this page for more information.  Return ALL materials to  Counselor Stephanie Leibowitz by April 15, 2014 before 2:30PM.  Only complete applications will be considered.




Parent Portal Access:

Attention Parents! The Parent Portal on PowerSchool is now available.  If your child attended GMHS last year and you had a parent SPAN account OR if you have already completed and returned a PowerSchool Parent Portal Access Form, you have been assigned a PowerSchool account.  Letters with your access information went home with students the week of 9/23.  If you still need access, click on the link below to download the form from the Wake Co. Public Schools website.

Account information will be distributed at your child's school. Each parent or guardian will have one account. If you have more than one child enrolled at WCPSS, you will receive an access ID for each child, which you add to your single account.

How can parents contact Transportation with bus issues?  For the fastest service, parents should fill out an online form: The online form can be used to report bus delays, route questions, lost items and general inquiries.  Alternatively, parents can also call the new centralized Transportation number (919) 805-3030.

Rising Juniors: AP English III Summer Reading List and Information.  Due to summer scheduling changes, students registered for AP English III second semester, should complete the assignment by the first day of second semester courses.



Students, this is another reminder that the former movie theatre across the street from our campus is now owned by the WCPSS and will be an active constuction site for at least the next 6-8 months. This area is off limits, and any students found on the site will face disciplinary action from the school and a possible trespassing citation from the Garner PD.
